The dynamic status of the reproductive endocrine system of prepubertal children is shown opposite, showing small amounts of GnRH production, low levels of gonadotrophin secretion and small amounts of sex steroid production. In contrast, patients with precocious puberty have pubertal levels of sex steroid production, normal circulating gonadotrophin concentrations, normal GnRH-induced LH release and normal pubertal results for dynamic tests of negative and positive feedback.
